Three Beckley men plead guilty to drug trafficking charges

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Three men pleaded guilty Tuesday for involvement in a drug trafficking conspiracy.

Shaun Jones, 40, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute more than 100 grams of heroin. Corey Larkin, 38, entered a guilty plea to conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute more than 100 grams of heroin. Jonathan Moore, 34 pled guilty to possession with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine.

All three individuals admitted that between August 2016 and June 2017, they took part in a drug trafficking conspiracy with multiple people involving cocaine and heroin.

Jones, Larkin and Moore each face a minimum of five years and a maximum of 40 years in a federal prison. Jones and Moore are scheduled to be sentenced for sentencing on May 29. Larkin is slated to be sentenced on June 5.

U.S. Attorney Mike Stuart said they are just three of 23 defendants indicted in June of 2017 after a thorough, multi-agency drug trafficking investigation. It was led by the FBI and the Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force. The DEA, Beckley Police Department, West Virginia State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives assisted.

“This case shows how united and determined we are in fighting drug scourge,” said Stuart. “With 23 defendants charged, the results speak for themselves. Drug dealers had better take notice that all levels of law enforcement – federal, state and local – are working together to make sure that drug crime results in hard time.”

Plea hearings for Jones, Larkin and Moore were held before Senior U.S. District Judge David A. Faber.
