UPDATE: ID released of fatal Wyoming County fire victim

UPDATE 1/2/18: The identity of a teenager killed in Sunday’s house fire has been released.

Hunter Paynter, 13, was killed in the blaze. Five others were reportedly transported to an area hospital for smoke inhalation treatment.

Paynter was a student at Huff Consolidated Middle School.

NORTH SPRINGS, W.Va. — A male teenager died in a house fire early Sunday in Wyoming County.

Wyoming County dispatchers said the blaze happened at a home along Route 52 in the area of North Springs. It was first called in shortly after midnight Sunday.

Coal River and Hanover Volunteer Fire Departments responded. It is still unclear what started the fire.
