The Summers County Commission has taken a major step toward strengthening emergency response capabilities with the unveiling of a new mobile command vehicle for the Summers County 911 Center.
County officials said the vehicle is designed to function as a fully operational alternative 911 center, capable of being deployed during emergencies, disasters, or large-scale incidents when traditional infrastructure may be unavailable or overwhelmed.
The mobile unit is equipped with Starlink internet service, providing up to 300 internet connections to ensure first responders remain connected, even in remote or hard-to-reach areas of the county. Officials said this capability will significantly improve communication and coordination during critical situations.
In addition to advanced connectivity, the vehicle carries specialized tools and equipment to support emergency operations in the field, offering dispatchers and responders increased flexibility and reliability during deployments.
County leaders said the investment reflects a strong commitment to public safety and fiscal responsibility.
“Our citizens deserve the best service available when they pay their communication fees,” officials said, noting that the new mobile command vehicle places Summers County at the forefront of emergency communications technology.
The mobile 911 command vehicle is expected to enhance coordination, response times, and overall reliability during emergencies throughout Summers County.
