BECKLEY — A fire damaged part of the former Beckley Hospital building late Tuesday night, according to the Beckley Fire Department.

Fire crews were dispatched at 10:37 p.m. on January 6, 2026, to a reported structure fire at the vacant building located at 1007 South Oakwood Avenue. Units arrived on scene approximately three minutes later and observed flames coming from the second floor.

Officials said the fire was contained to a single room on the second floor. Minor heat damage was also reported to the front façade of the building. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Beckley Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Division.
