WYOMING COUNTY, WV — Wyoming County Prosecuting Attorney Derek Laxton announced that Ronald Jackson “Poncho” Sinecoff, 53, of Pineville, has been convicted of possessing child pornography.

Sinecoff faces a potential sentence of not less than five nor more than 20 years in prison. He will also be required to register as a sex offender for life.

The conviction stems from an investigation conducted by Sgt. Tyler Sizemore of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office. After obtaining a search warrant, Sgt. Sizemore recovered a cellphone belonging to Sinecoff and discovered child pornography on the device. Sinecoff was subsequently arrested and indicted.

Laxton praised the work of law enforcement, stating the case highlights “the hard work, dedication, and skill employed by Sgt. Tyler Sizemore in his work on crimes against children in Wyoming County.”

He added that the Sheriff’s Office remains committed to combating crimes against children, noting recent investments in specialized training and new technology that allows for immediate downloads of cellphone data to speed investigations.

Sinecoff is currently incarcerated at the Southern Regional Jail. Sentencing is scheduled for February 17 at 1:30 p.m. at the Wyoming County Courthouse in Pineville.
