Fayette County traffic stops lead to fugitive arrests

PAX, W.Va. — Two Fayette County traffic stops led to the arrest of two fugitives.

Corporal A.B. Hudson of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department stopped a vehicle along Weirwood Road in the area of Pax Sunday. Stephen Williams, 42 of Beckley, was discovered as the driver. Williams was wanted in Montgomery County, Md. on felony charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

Later that day, Deputy B.K. Fernandez conducted another traffic stop on Court Street in Fayetteville. That stop revealed Grant Wiston, 19 of Narrows, Va., was wanted out of Giles County, Va. on charges of Selling/Distributing Narcotics. Wriston had been living in Fayetteville for a short period of time.

Both individuals were taken into custody without incident. They are being held at Southern Regional Jail in Raleigh County.
