Fayette County homeowner finds intruder hiding in bathtub

ANSTED, W.Va. – A resident called 911 early Thursday after finding an intruder in her bathtub.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department said at around 4 in the morning, the homeowner found a pair of boots inside a room that were not hers. She proceeded to the bathroom where she found the shower curtain closed and the medicine cabinet door open.

Catherine Akers, 31 of Beckwith, was discovered under the influence lying in the bathtub. When deputies arrived, she gave them a fake name and was “saying things that make no sense”.

Akers faces a felony charge of Burglary and misdemeanor offenses of Trespassing and Obstructing. She will also serve an existing misdemeanor arrest order.

Her bond has been set at $25,000 by the Fayette County Magistrate’s Office. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday this is the fourth home intruder call they have received this week.
